Founded in 1979 by Mao Chang in the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, our mission was clear: to provide top-quality food products to the foodservice industry and become a trusted partner to our customers.

What began as a small, family-run distributor has grown into a respected leader in food distribution across the Southwest. But one thing has remained unchanged – our unwavering dedication to excellence, reliability, and putting our customers’ needs first.

Milestone 1: The Foundation of Trust (1979)

We started small, with just a few trucks and a strong desire to make a difference in the foodservice industry. In the early years, our reputation for reliable service and high-quality products quickly helped us build strong relationships with local restaurants and wholesalers. By focusing on what mattered most – quality and trust – we began to lay the foundation for a company that would grow and thrive in a competitive market.

Milestone 2: Expansion and Innovation (1995)

As demand for our services grew, we knew we needed to expand to keep pace. In 1995, we added more trucks to our fleet and extended our service area to reach customers across the Southwest. But we did not stop there. This was also a time of innovation, as we implemented new systems to improve our service and streamline operations. By embracing technology, we have become more efficient and more responsive to the needs of our customers, setting the stage for even greater growth.

Milestone 3: Leadership Transition and Strategic Growth (2012)

In 2012, leadership passed to Jesse Chang and Weldon Chang, who carried forward the values instilled by Mao while positioning Formosa Foods for the future. Under their guidance, we diversified our product offerings, expanded into new markets, and continued to innovate, focusing on customer-first solutions and operational excellence. With a renewed focus on strategic growth and continuous improvement, we strengthened our position as one of the most competitive and reliable foodservice distributors in the region.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we faced unprecedented challenges, but our commitment to our customers remained unwavering. Despite the difficulties, we adapted quickly, enhancing safety measures and ensuring timely deliveries.
